Difference Between TOEFL and TOEIC
GENERAL
TOEFL
TOEFL is an acronym of the Test of English as a Foreign Language, which is the official name for the test, is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in American universities. It assesses ability to both speak and understand English by analysing English ability in terms of reading, speaking, listening and writing. These are all skills which will be needed to carry out academic studies and the test is used by institutions to ensure students are able to proceed and succeed on their chosen course in a country where the curriculum is taught in English.
TOEIC
TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is "an English language test designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment." Many companies, schools, and other organizations, as well as individuals, are currently utilizing the test as an effective way to raise the motivation to study, and as an opportunity to check the English skill levels of their workers and students. The TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests have recently been added to the TOEIC program. These tests complement the TOEIC Listening and Reading test, allowing for a full assessment of a person's ability to communicate in English across all four language skills.
